Rabbi Meir Gershon Rabi has rekindled the world's interest in Ben PeKuAh. His acumen, deep analysis, passion and dedication to Kosher in general and to Ben PeKuAh in particular, has won him many admirers and brought him face to face with Jewry's greatest contemporary Halachic thinkers.

He is an internationally recognised, acclaimed and published scholar of ancient and contemporary Jewish ritual law and ethics.

He has dedicated his life to researching and teaching and authored a scholarly analysis explaining the foundations and systems of Ben PeKuAh, published in the 35th volume of the prestigious Tchumin annual journal. see

Rabbi Meir Gershon Rabi has designed and oversees all the activities and processes relating to creating and maintaining the SuperKosher Ben PeKuAh initiative.

His fascination with Ben PeKuAh began during the 1980’s. He could not help but dream of the tremendous benefit awaiting the Jewish world if BP would be revitalised. Standards of Kashrut would be significantly simplified and raised, the choice hindquarter cuts would be readily available and at the same time, the financial burden of eating Kosher would be greatly eased.

Following his schooling in Melbourne Australia, at the Yeshivah College and advanced Jewish studies at the Yeshivah Gedolah, he proceeded to Jerusalem  to study under the venerable Rav Y Kliener at Yeshivas Beis HaKerem, then at Etz Chaim, London after which he returned to Melbourne to study at Kollel Beis HaTalmud. He is still invariably found in the Adass Israel Kollel, standing at his spot, leaning over a Shtender, poring over the ancient Jewsish texts of the Talmud and its commentaries.

Rabbi Rabi has been privileged to enjoy a very close and warm relationship with some of the most senior and sage Rabbis both in Australia and overseas.

He has recently engaged in lengthy discussions and exchanged multiple letters regarding the intricacies of Ben PeKuAh, with this generation’s pre-eminent authority on all matters of Jewish ritual, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky. Whilst studying in London's Eitz Chaim he learned with the eminent Dayan Dovid Grynhaus of the Kedassia Kashrut organisation. In Melbourne he enjoyed for many years, a weekly private learning session with Reb Zalman Serebryanski OBM, doyen of the Australian Chabad community. Rabbi Rabi also shared countless private hours in discussion and learning with Rabbi Boruch Abaranok OBM of the Mizrachi Organisation, and delivered Rabbi Abaranok's daily Shiur during his various absences.

Rabbi Rabi began his career in Kashrut when Rabbi Rudzki, Chief Minister of the South Caulfield Hebrew Congregation - the first Rabbi in Australia to actively organise Kashrut for the community - sought assistance for running and expanding his community Kashrut service. That service was soon re-badged as 'Kosher VeYosher', which has flourished under Rabbi Rabi's motto of 'Innovation Within Tradition'. In naming his Kosher service, 'Kosher VeYosher' he has encapsulated a theme that resonates with his own personal philosophy and principles. Kosher means “acceptable and proper”, Yosher means “straight”. Kosher VeYosher is an old Yiddish expression meaning “above board, exemplary and absolutely trustworthy”.
